Because
of her interest in learning to work with new materials, Christina
Cushman Gersten searched for a way to unite her knowledge of mediums.
In 2004, her digital composite skills formed as a likely progression
of her skills, enabling her to characterize her abilities and awareness
in a unique form. Christina’s particular use of combining
so many disciplines of traditional and contemporary mediums is
one that is uncommon; although, its creation seems natural, as
she is able to join her skills in painting, photography and digital
art. This recent series illustrates a dynamic process of creating
art.
Christina studied oil painting in Florence, Rome, Paris, San
Miguel de Allende, as well as in the United States with a B.A.
cum laude in Fine Art and Art History from Tulane University
in New Orleans. Christina’s development of photography
skills spurred out of love for the optical, which lead her to
USC School of Cinema/Television, where she received her M.F.A.
in production in 1996. The next eight years, she dedicated herself
to the arts, producing several hundred works, including mostly
oil paintings and charcoals, sculpture, celluloid and digital
photography, glass art, printmaking, motion picture ‘art’ films,
screenplays and poetry.
